Oklahoma is not a Nursing Licensure Compact State.

Prescriptive Authority in Oklahoma

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses may apply for prescriptive authority for Schedule III-V controlled substances in collaboration with a physician with the exception of those excluded by the state formulary. Prescriptions are limited to a 30 day supply. $40 Renewal Fee every 2 years and $85 Application Fee.

Oklahoma Nursing Licensure Renewal

Nursing licenses are renewed every two years in even years by the end of the birth month and may be renewed up to three months before the license expires. Renewal reminder letters are mailed to the address on file with the board approximately three months before the expiration date. In the event that a renewal letter is not received, the nurse is still responsible for submitting the renewal prior to the license expiration date. The biennial renewal fee for the registered nurse (R.N.) is $75.

Renewal
All renewal applications must include evidence of a current national certification. The biennial renewal fee for APRN licensure is $40 prescriptive authority is $40. Licenses may be renewed online. APRNs must complete at least 15 contact hours or one academic credit hour of education in pharmacotherapeutics, clinical application, and the use of pharmacological agents in the prevention of illness, and in the restoration and maintenance of health in a program beyond basic R.N. preparation in the two years since your last renewal. For renewal, APRNs must also submit proof of an agreement with supervising physicians that includes the following:
  • Appropriate referral, consultation, and collaboration between the APRN and the physician;
  • Availability of communication between the APRN and the physician through direct contact, telecommunications, or appropriate electronic means for consultation, assistance with medical emergencies, or patient referral;
  • Assistance with medical emergencies.
Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) must complete at least eight units of continuing education in advanced pharmacology relating to the administration of anesthesia, as recognized by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists in the two years since the last renewal.
